Unforseen Complications Story
Baby Olivia Rose
November 15th, 2010
**This was the first baby for this mama, and early in labor she was faced with unforeseen complications. She explains how HypnoBirthing helped her remain calm and in control, and ultimately, avoid a C-section.
My water broke Saturday and had meconium in it so we went to the hospital right away. I was only dilated to a 1. I had really bad low back labor and labored naturally until about 5:00 Sunday morning.
The nurses told me later that they had my c-section papers ready to go because that was the route they really thought it was going to take. I'm really happy with my midwife, she was so encouraging. She let me go beyond the 24 hours and I was able to deliver vaginally.
Although I ended up with pitocin and an epidural, I was able to use a lot of things from hypnobirthing to help me visualize and breathe and relax. I did "push" but it was only for about 20 min and not bad at all. Not at all how we had planned but I am so happy with the way things turned out and that I got to deliver vaginally.
We had Olivia Rose on Nov. 15th. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 21 inches long. She is amazing!
